WANGANU! TRAINING NOTES.
WANGAMJI, September 24. The weather was flue, yesterday morning, for training operations, bat little worn was done. Tautoru slipped over a fast seven furlongs—the only cao extended. Useful work was done by half a dozen others. The woather was beautiful this morning. Gulden Cairn and Blazing Stiu* galloped a mile together, both moving well, in lmin 50sec. Halberdier' did two rounds at a solid pacee. Weary Will went once round at a fair pace. Grand Slam and Tangimoana were associated in a seven furlongs spin, Snishing on even,terms in lmin 35seo from a flying start. Albuerji took a second longer. Seaman and Sedgmoor put up a good working gallop for two rounds, tho former pulling double all the way. Fontenoy, St. Lyra, and Armistice jumped off at the halfmile post, the intention being that the two latter should cover a mile and a half. The boy on Armistice lest his stirrup iron shortly after the start, and* could not hold the mare, wtiioh bolted, covering three hnd a half miles befoie she was stopped. The New Zealand Cup candidate is in great heart, and maintained a fast pace all through her self-imposed journey. She pulled up comparatively well. St. Lyra is in -capital nick. Colleen, a youngster by Bill of Portland, did steady work on tho plough. A uumber of •others also got through useful work.
