EKEI'AHUNA SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., re. port on the Eketahuna sale held on r Friday, 21st insfc., as follows:—A full yarding of cattle, only seven pens of steei-B, the rest being hoifers |nd oows. All steeis sold with the exception of one pen. Cows and heifers were nearly unsaleablo. Sheep—For some as yet unexplained reason, three lines of hoggets did not come forward. Would settlers kindly not enter stock if they are not certain they can get them in, us it misleads would-be purchasers, who have to oome from a distance. We quote:— Hoggets 15s 4d, weaner steers to £2 6s, rising 2-year steers to £3 6s, cows in calf to £3 15s, heifers to £3 lOs, pigs to 17s. We also held a clearing sale at Nireaha on Thursday, September 20th, on the farm of Mr T. Astwood. Cow? were poor, and not near calving. All sold. Pigs brought good prices, £3 to £5 4s for sows in pig. Slips 16s. Trap and harness £2O. Gelding £26. Other things, fair prices. MAST3RTON BUKSE SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held a special horse sale at Masterton on Saturday, when about sixty horseß were submitted. There was a large attendance of the public, but bidding was slaok. The inquiry for heavy draughts was good, but very few came forward. There was a good entry of young light draughts, these selling from £2B to £34; light gig horses from £6 10s to £8; good hacks to £l3 13s, and a very nice lady's hack £23. Several lots ot vehicles and harness were also disposed of. LONDON MARKET ADVICES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the follow, ing cables from their London bouse, dated the 20tt> inst.Butter—Market firm. The Copenhagen official quotation is higher by 2 kromer (about 2s 3d per owt). We expect higher prices. The total imports of butter into the United KiDgdom for the week ended September 15th amounted to 72,0U00wt as compared with 6tf,oooowt for the corresponding week of last year. Frozen MeatThere is a better demand for both ' mutton and beef, and a fair demand for lamb. Mutton market firm. The increased demand for beef is in oonsequenoe of the oold weather. We quote: -New Zealand prime orossbred lamD, Canterbury, heavy light 4%d; North Island lamb, heavy 4%d, light 4%d; New Zealand prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury, heavy light 3%d, North Island, heavy light prime ox beef, fores hinds 3%d. Sheepskins—Combing merino, lower by %d, crossbred lower by %d, shorn pelts unchanged. Tallow, in general, higher by 6d per cwt. The demand is chiefly for spot parcels. C.i.f. buyers are ver r^iy.
