A MAKORA STREET PETITION.

"URGENTLY NEEDED IMPROVEMENTS." A petition was received at the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, last evening from twelve residents of Makora Street, drawing the Council's attention to the several urgently-needed improvements in that street. They elated that tbey were prepared to dedicate to the borough the necessary land fronting their properties for the widening of Makora Street to the legal width conditionally that the fences were replaced and that a new bridge be erected within six months from date; also that the footpath be formed. The petitioners drew the Council's attention to the necessity for an outlet at the southern end of the street. At the present time there were seventeen houses iu the street, and the increasing traffic made it dangerous to pedestrians, especially children, owing to the want of an outlet to the street. The letter was held over until next Thursday evening, when the question of street widening will be gone into.
