PONGAROA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Monday. A start has been made with the building of the Foresters' Hall in the Township. Mr P. Robinson has disposed of his house in Akaroa Street to Mr A. Dickens. The Rev T Thomas is on a vifc.it to Victoria. Ho is accompanied by Mrs Thomas and will be absent for about seven weeks. Mr J. Clark's .flock including lambs averaged at Jast years shearing a fleece of 12 lbs loz whioh is probably a record for this district. The Pongaroa Faciory will commence operations for the season on September 15th. Mr R. M. Hansen, late proprietor of the Pongaroa Factory is still in the Argentine Republic eugaged in the dairying business. Diptheria is prevalent in several homes in the township just now.
