CARLTON CRICKET CLUB.
The following is the annual report of the Carlton Cricket Club, to be presented to the annual meeting of the club this evening : Your club is to be congratulated on its success last season, for the good sport provided and the good fellowship that prevailed amongst its members. We entered two teams for the Senior Championship and one for the Junior Championship. The A team of the club had the honour of winning tho Senior Championship, and thereby winning the Henderson Cup, and tho Greenleeß Cup, the latter becoming the absolute property of the oiub, being won outright.' The members of the A team are to be congratulated on their splendid per fnrmance, playing eight matches, and winning them all. The B team of the club, the previous winners of the championship, and Henderson Cup, are cj be sympathised with, failing to win cue match during the season. The O team (juniors) nlso are to bo sympathised with, only winning one match during the season, tut this was mainly due to the trouble of securing sufficient j players for their matches. I The club sustained a severe loss at tho end of the season by the death of Mr George vVelob, the captain of the B team, a staunch supporter of and worker for the club. The late gentleman's advice and assistance was always at our disposal, and was very much appreciated by ail tho members of tho club. The club desire to'place on record their very deep '-egret at the loss sustained. Owing to business removals and otherwise the club has lost the services of several of ita players, and they carry with the club's best wishes for their future success. During the season a good number of new members were elected to the club, bringing the total membership up to 110. There were no matches played with outside clubs duriug the season, which is to be regretted, and the Easter tour had to be abandoned owing to members' inability to travel. The annuai social ot the club took place in the Town and Drill Halls on May 31st, 1906. and the result was a grand suooeac both financially and otherwise. Dancing, interspersed with songs, was indulged in, and an excellent supper was provided, and everyone present enjoyed themselves thoroughly. We have to tender our most sincere thanks to the following gentlemen for assistance:—Messrs J. O'Meara, A. J. Hathaway, W. Piatt, J. Welch, junr., J. Dixon, E. P. Brogan, W. Eagle, J. Wickens, A. 0. Major and J. B. Hull, and to Messrs E. Weloh, W. Piatt, H. Lamming, B. I.veeou, W. Oragg. A, Henderson, and C. C. Greenlees for trophies presented; also to Mr J. O'Meara for uso of rooms for meetings and Mr W. B. Cbennells for use of rooms for committee meetings We have to congratulate Mr F. P. Welch on his success with the bat during the season, also Messrs Boyd and W. Harding for their bowling, Mr J. O'Leary for his success in the fielding, and Mr Ken Welch for his good all-round play for tbejuuiors. We also desire to place on record our most sinoere thanks to Mr E. Welch for, the manner in which he has worked in the interest cf the club. The trophy winners for the season are as follow:—A team—Batting, F. P. Weloh, Mr E. Welch's bat; bowling, W.. Boyd, Mr W. Cragg's trophy; fielding, J. O'Leary, Mr Lamming'a trophy. O team —Best improved junior, Ken Welch, Mr W. Piatt's trophy; bowling, W. Harding, Mr Ben Iveson'a gold medal. Mr E. Weloh, on behalf ot the A team, was presented with the Henderson Cup and the Greenlees Cup. We regret to note that the Masterton District High School again omitted to take advantage of your club's offer.
