AMERICAN TRANSPORT ASHORE.

Reoeived September 2, 4.45 p.m. NEW YORK, September 1. Advices from Honolulu state that the Amerioan transport Sheridan is ashore at Barber's Point. The vessel's steampipe broke and there being no beaob in tbe vicinity the Sheridan drifted till she struck the rooks broadside on. A heavy surf prevented the orew from landing near the scene of tbe disaster.
