TINUI NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Monday. A meet of tbe Hunt Club was ■held last Saturday and although •very exciting, was marred by some nasty accidents, Mr J. H. Cameron bad a very serious fall and was rendered unconscious for several hours and is still lying in a dazed •condition. Mr T. Crawford was also somewhat injured. His horse burst a blood vessel through falling heavily. The obstacles were very higb and solid and only the best horses were put to the test of negotiating the course; otherwise ♦'here would have been a large number of spills. Messrs J. McGann, R. W, Barton, A. Chong, G. Allen, J. Dodson narrowly escaped being injured. The finish of theiruu was tbe most exciting ever seen here, although at the Bame time somewhat unusual. All the huntsmen had pulled up and > were standing in a group around Mr Cameron, while Dr. Hunter was attendiug him. By this time the hounds had got to their destination with the huntsman and whips olose up. A» collie dog unfortunately for itself had been talking on tbe trail and the hounds immediately broke out in fall cry after the collie dog straight across country towards the Town Hall. The huntsman and whips were equal to the occasion and followed after the pack clehring high wire fences or anything that •oame in their way. The laughing of tbe women and ohildren at the Hall at the exciting chase was soon 'Changed to soreams as the uoilie dog raced into the Hall for shelter with the angry pack in full cry close up. Mr Shaw, however, arrived in time to save the oollie dog's life, much to the delight of everybody. Mr •and Mrs Nevins hospitably entertained the visitors at afternoon tea at tbe Town Hall; a kindness tbat was much appreciated. The following took part in the run:— The huntsman, Mr J. Shaw, (on Starlight), Messrs J. O'Brien, (Gunmetal), J*. Chung, (Thelma)j whips; Dr."Hunter, District MasV*ter, (ikaroa); Messrs Fl.. A. Miller, •(Cleopatra); G. Allen, (Pipi); J. Collerton, (Windora); W. Collerton, •(Weary Bill); D. Steven, (Tuapeka); R. Morrison, (The Gunner); J. Anderson, (Rata); E. Collerton, (Miss Nancy); J. McUann, (Pedler); T. Crawford, (Cowboy); W. G. Lang, (Queen of Clubs f ); J. Dodeon, (Sandy); J. Wingate, (Mistaue); W. Dickens, (Cavendish); R. W. Barton, (Taimene). The Town Hall committee , ball was held on Friday evening and proved a very successful gathering. Visitors were present from Masterton, Carterton and other parts of the district. The JMatalkona footballers beat the Tin'oi club by 9 points to 6 on Saturday last.
