When Colonel Hughes suggested in the Dominion House of Commons that the 10,000 emigrants which the Salvation Army proposed to send to South America should be sent to Canada, the Minister of the Interior replied that they wore not good enough for Canada. He said he bad broached the subjeot to offloers of the Salvation Army, and that they replied that the men not up to the standard of those usually sent to Canada.
