By Telegraph—Press Association
AUCKLAND, August 11 . The inter-provincial football match, Auckland v. Canterbury, was played at Alexandra Park, Epsom, this afternoon, on a fairly favourable ground, and in the presence of about 6,000 spectators. The local forwards were rather heavier than the southerners, but the visitors all round were a likely looking lot. In the first spell Canterbury, with a strong wind behind them, scored 6 points to Auckland's 3 points (all goals) but the locals had a bit th« best of the game. In the second half, playing with the wind, Auckland ran over their opponents, and putjjn^another 26 points, while Canterbury failed to score, the looaj team thus winning by 29 points to G points. The winners were altogether too powerful for the visitors in the forwards. Their sweeping rushes were irresistible the forwards leading the way to most of the scores. Duffy, the Auckland full-back, gave a fine exhibition of goal kicking, missing only one^ WAIRARAPA v. CANTERBURY.
