THE BIORAMA COMPANY.
Major Perry's Biorama Company arrived in Masterton on Saturday, and commenced a season in the Town Hall in the evening On their way froa the station, and afterwards in Quee» Street, the Biorama Band played a number of selections. In the evening there «vas a fairly large audience at the Town Hall, and the entertainment, consisting of moving pictures and vocal items, proved very enjoyable. The pictures were shown on a very large sheet, and embraced a variety of subjects. The principal film shown related to the recent San disaster. Thougn there have been films of the rained city shown here before, those presented on SeturSay night differed in the maiu from their predecessors. The films included a trip through Market Street, the main thorough, fare of the city, before tho earthquake, a view of the fire aa seen from the neighbouring hills, a tour ■of the street*-, and the refugees' (jamp in the park. The audience warmly applauded the picture's. It vias interesting to note, and perhaps typical of American enterprise, that after the earthquake tha% tramcars continued to run in the streets, whete i*. was at all possible for them to get along. Mount Vesuvius in eruption was another fine film. Of the other films the beet were Oliver Twist, The Squire's Daughter, it's Never too Late to Mend, and My Name is Brown. During the evening .glees were rendered by the full strength of the company, and several members contributed vocal items, which earned for them 1 ud applause from the audience. The company's orchestra supplied the incidental music and the accompaniments. Owius to the unfavourable weather, yesterday Bfternoon, tho Company's fciand did not play in the Park, as announcod, bat instead an entertainment, consisting vooal and instrumental items and orchestral and baud selections, was given in the Town Hall, before a fairly large audience. In the evening the Town Hall was crowded, when the Company gave a sacred concert. The programme consisted of illuminated .sacred sougs and a bioscopio picture entitled, "Christ Amon 6 Men." This was an «xuellent film, depicting the various scenes in the life of Christ. It is safe, to say that no picture of its class to equal it has ever teen shown in Masterton. The season will be continued tonight and to-morrow night. There wil be a change of programme on each night.
