MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETINU. Tbe annual meeting 'of memhers of the Masterton 'Racing Club was held in the Foresters' Hall, yesterday afternoon, Mr C. P. Vallanoe, the retiring Frjsident, occupied the chair, and there were about 60 members in attendance. 'the annual report and balancesheet, which have already been published, we re adopted as read. On the motion of Mr Pownall, seconded by Mr Macara, the Stewards were authorised to appoint a paid clerk of scales, and fix his salary.

Mr H. Wejph retired from the position of clerk of coarse, and on the motion of Mr Hathaway, second!! by Mr Pownall, Mr C. Bennett was unanimously elected to fill the vacancy. t Mr D. Caselberg amended bis notice of motion, "That the annual meeting of the Olub be held on the last Thursday in July in each year, instead of the last Wednesday," to read, "That the annual meeting be held on the third Thursday in July." His reason for doing so was that be bad found that if the meeting was held on tbe last Thursday of tbe month, it would clash with the annual,meeting of the A. and P. Association. , 'He thought Thursday a desirable day for both the town and country members, and he bad no hesitation in saying that if the meeting were,held on a Thursday, the attendance would be very much larger than if it were held on a Wednesday.

Mr O. C. Cooper seconded the motion,, and endorsed Mr Gaselberg's remarks. He thought that Wednesday was a very unsuitable day for the meeting, owing to the stock sales being held on that day. Mr Pownall supported the motion which was carried almost unanimously. The officers for the ensuing year were eleoted as follow:—Patron A. W. Cave; F. Vallance;' Vice-Presidents,, J. Macara C. A.

Pownall*- A. G.- Pilmer, Fred. Moore; Time-keeper, W. D. Watson; Treasurer, 0. F. Vallanoe; Stewards, JR. Buick, W. Cooper, J. lorns, W. Piatt, O. H. Smith, A. J. Weloh, D. Caselberg, Jas. Cress, 1). McLpohlan, Reside, W. D. Watson, W. lorns; Auditors, G. G. Cork and A. Hathaway. Two new members were ejected.

MEETING OF STEWARDS. A .meeting of tbe newly-elected Stewards was held immediately after tbe annual meeting. There were present Messrs C. F. Vallance, J. Macara, A. J. Welob, D. MeLaoblan, W. lorus, .W. Piatt, 0. H. Smith, R. Buiok, W. D. Watson, J. Cress, A. G. Pilmer, W. Cooper, D. Caselberg, and C. A. Pownall; Mr Vallanoe was eleoted chairman for the ensuing year. Messrs Pownall, Macara, Cress and Vallanoe, were eleoted a programme committee. '

The following ground oommittee was ro-eleoted: Messrs A. J. /Welob, A. G. Pilmer, D. McLaohian, J. Macara, C. H. Smith, A. W. Cave, C. jF. Vallanoe, W. Piatt, J. Cress, J. lorns, and A. Reside. A vote of thanks was aooorded Mr H. Welch for b$ services as clerk of the course, and it was decided to •eleot Mr Welob a life member.of the Club. A vote of, thanks was also accorded Mr F. Kill for his past services to the Club. The following were recommended for licenses:—Gentlemen riders—A. Buiok, W. H. Buick, F. Buiok, J. Haxton. Trainers—F. Matthews, V. O'NeiU, W. Garratt, 1?. Knox, M. McGratb, R. J. Marr. Jockeys —B. Olliver, F. Wood, A. Collins, R. Arnott, A. Watson and T. OarToll.

The meeting then adjourned until Saturday next, when the applications for the position of custodian of the course will be considered.
