BANNISTER STREET FOOTPATH.
THE MATTER AGAIN BLFORE THE COUNCIL.
The Bannister Street deputation, who have for some time past been ! urging on the Masterton Borough Council the necessity for a new footpath in Bannister Street, waited on tho meeting of tho Borough Coancil last evening They set forth their claim for a new footpath, and reminded the Council that they had been promised at a recent meeting of the Council the plans and specifications would be prepared for the work. The Engineer explained that the plans and specifications for the work bad not yet been prepared, as he was waiting for the loau schedule to be re-opened. As soon as the work was put on the loan schedule it would be carried out. mm^^S^SSS^OSfQ The Mayor informed the deputation that the loan schedule would be considered that night, and then the olaim of the Bannister Street residents would be discussed. Until then nothing could be done. Or Feist moved that instructions be given to have the plans and specifications prepared immediately, and the work proceeded with. The Mayor ruled the motion out of order, as, he said, the matter could not be considered until the loan schedule was re-opened. Or Ewlngton advised the deputation to wait until the loan schedule came up for consideration, and then personally urge their need. The deputation waited for some , time until the Mayor asked them to retire while certain matters were being nonsidered in committee. The deputation withdrew, but did not return. At 10.50 o'olook, when all the ordinary business of the meeting had been completed, and the next business was the consideration of the loan schedule, and the estimates for the year 1906-7, Or Temple moved and Cr Feist seoonded, that the meeting adjourn. The motion was oarried by seven votes to three.
