KILLED IN A SHINGLE PIT.

By Tulegraph—Press Association. ASHBURTON. July 2d. While working in a sbingle pit at Wakanui, to-day, James Dwyer was killed through the sides of the pit caving in, and a fall of debris burying him. A rescue party were quickly at work, but although only a quarter •of an hour elapsed before the shingle was cleared away life was extinot when the man was disinterred.
