N«aln, M.H.R., fort Awanui, leleyraphcd, this afternoon, to the Chief Pes! master at Giaborne: "It is roported'by (ho Maoris, who have j tat crossed the Waipn River from Iho Enat (Jape, that a three masted schooner was wrecked there oa Monday night or Tuesday. The name is Star Henry or Sir Henry. None of the craw wore saved. Tnere is supposed (o have b«en five on board Three wero seen ou a plank aud wero washed off. 1 ' The Sir Henry was bound from Auckland to Napier with a cargo of timber. She sheltered at Tolaga Bay ou Sunday aud Monday, and when the wind came iu from the eastward ou Monday evening she beat out of. the bay, taking two hours hard battling to do so. The fearful storm made tbo Tolaga people anxious, aud they telegraphed as to her safety. NAMES OF THE UREW. AUCKLAND, July 19. The schoouer Sir Henry left Auckland with the following orew:— Captain J. Gnomes, master, aged 48. E. Quimar, A.8., aged 32. Adolph Ritcber, A.ll, aged 22. Anton Oallas, A.8., aged 37. All the members of tbe crew helong to Auckland. 'lhe sohooner was surveyed in Lyttelton three years ago. Although a small craft she was .seaworthy, and was considered a very useful type of vessel. The Sir Henry left Auokland last Thursday morning at 8.30 o'clock, the same time as the ill-fated Aotea, and the boats were expeoted to acconipatiy one another down the coast. She was bound for Napier with a cargo of timber and pipes, and, as far as is known, neither boat nor cargo was insured. Captain Goomes had the reputacion of being one of,the most oautious nnd thorough skippers on the coast, and was never known to run his vessel into unnecessary danger. Captain Goomes' wife and child reside in Wellesley Street, Auckland.
