MAJOR CUP COMPETITION. 'kia, kaha A v. W.F.C.A. The Kia Kaha A and W.F.OjA. teams met at Labsdowne, yesterday afternoon, in splendid weather for hockey. Play throughout the whole game was mostly of an individual character, although the K'.a Kaha forwards got an occasional passing rush. In the first half play was very * voia j but about half-way through tffe spell King centred nicely to Rue, who shot a goal for | Kia Kaha?, No further score was registered in the first half, and at half time the score stood— ! / Kia Kaha ... 1 goal I W.FjCA. ... nil. ! The second part of the game was more in favour of the Kia Kabas, although only one goal w«9 soored, a shot fcy McLean from the oorner of the striking circle, which glanced off the goalkeepers' pads between the posts. The ball travelled up and down the field at a great rate, due to the hard-hitting of Thynne, Hooper, Parton and Donald on the Kia Kaba, side, and Fairbrother and Hall for W.F.U.A. The forwards, however, were not in good sbodting form, and as a result no further goals were scored, and the game ended in favour of Kia Kaha , A by two goals to nil. Mr S. A. Noble-Oampbeli was referee.

EKETAUUNA v. OAKTERTON, Teams representing Eketauuna aad ■■Carterton met at Lansdowne yesterday afternoon, and a fairly even came resulted in a win for Carterton by two goals to nil. W. Fisher and Boyle soored for tbe winners. MrS. Noble Campbell was referee. ;

HUGHES SHIELD COMPETITION HUIA v. GARRY OWEN. The match between the Huias and Garry Owens, at Lansdowne, yesterday afternoon, proved very interesting. The newly-formed Garry Owen Club have improved rapidly, and although they were beaten by two goals 10 oil, they appear to Jjave made themselves well ac-

quainter! with many of the points of the game. Miss L. Barker scored a goal for the Huiaa, and the other was a penalty goal. For the winners Misses Barker, R. Hooper and Smith (2) played excellently, and for the Garry Owens Misses Hanley, Collins and O'Leary were seen to best advantage. Mr J. King was lefereo.

DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL v. GLENGARKY. The District High School girls defeated the Glengarry team on the Soboolground, yesterday, by three goals to oil. Glengarry had slightly the best at the game during the first, spell, but towards the fk'ish the schoolgirls livened up and put on three goals. These were bit by Misses 0. Richards (2) and A. Jackson. Besides the goal-hitters, Misses Elliott and Keißenterg played well for the winners. For the losers Misses Dean, McHattie, McGregor aod Hood did good worn. Mr L. N icol wbb referee>

GRBYTOWN v. PAKA KOUPA. t , The match, between the Ureytown and Pajja, Kciura (Featherston) pin ba, played'at tireytown yesterday, iesulted in a draw, neither side scoring. (Sreytown had the best of the game, and misued several good chances of sooripg owing to lack of combination. The Paka Kouraa played a splendid game, having im proved very much. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Hockey Assoointloa was held in Master ton yesterday afternoon. There were present— Messrs fceist (chairman) and J. Fisher (Carterton), Suckling and Gordon , (Eketabuna}, Daniell and Fairbrotber (W.F.0.A.), Oarley andNiool (Kia Kaha B), Williams and Hughes (Kja Kaha A). It was decided to play a representative match, against Wellington, at Wellington, on August 25tb, and'to arrange for the Wairarapa Manawatu match to be played at Masterton on August 16th. A letter was received from Mr F. I-!. Pope, sole selector of the North Island hookey team, stating that it bad been decided to play the North Island v. South Island game, at •Wangaoui, on August 2nd. Mr Pope asked the Association to forward the nances of players who, in its opinion, were entitled to consideration for the North Island team. It wag decided to nominate Mr J. B. Rue for the, right inner forward posi t'ion. , Thursday next, July, J2th, was set apart for playing the postponed match Kia Kaha B v. Carterton.
