i THEi NATIVE DISTURBANCE. A SHAEP FIGHT. MANY KRAALS BURNED. Received July 5, 7.35 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, July. 4. Colonels McKenzie and Barker attempted to surround Mesini's imoi. It ia estimated that the rebels number eight thousand. A sharp fight occurred with the enemy's vanguard. Heavy fighting is still proceeding. Many kraals are in flames. HEAVY REBEL CASUALTIES. {Received July 5, 10.7 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, July 4. Three hundred and fifty Zulus were kilied in the fight with Mesini's vanguard. TROUBLESOME KAFFIRS ARRESTED. Received July 7, 10.7 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, July 5. Five Kaffirs who were shouting "Bambaata" wore arrested in the suburbs of Johannesburg after they had severely stabbed and robbed several whites and raided natives' hats. A CONVOY ATTACKED. THREE DESPERATE CHARGES. FORTY REBELS AND ONE TROOPER KILLED. Received July 5, 9.35 rim. PIETERMARITZBURG, July 5. Seven hundred rebels attacked a convoy of 28 wagons, which was escorted by 130 soldiers, 12 miles from Bondsdrift. Three charges were repulsed. Forty rebels and one trooper were killed. "WHOLESALE MASSACRES OF NATIVES." MR KEIR HARDIE SPEAKS OUT. Received July 5, 9.3 p.m. LONDON, July 5. MrKeir bardie, writing to a Zulu, now residing at Edinburgh, deolared that the wholesale massacres of natives in South Africa filled him with shame and horror. He 'hoped that the Zulus would soon be able to defend themselves against the barbarities of the hypocritical whites.
