The Johannesburg correspondent of the Tribune states that a compromise with regard to the Constitution is being arranged. A number of representative progressives have gone to Capetown to interview the Ridgway Commission. The Boers agree tbat Parliament should consist of 33 member* from Witswacerrand, 30 from she country and six from Pretoria. They will accept manhood suffrage. The] progressives are willing to compromise iu order to remove the depression and stop the exodus of people. They are prepared to faoe a temporary Boer majority, provided British supremacy is assured," 5 and on the creation of a nominated Upper Chamber for five years with automatic re-distribution, whioh will restore mastery through the inflow of population.
