OUTRAGE BY JAPANESE.

So muoh praise of the oourtesy of The Japanese has been published, that the public of Sydney read with some astonishment an acoouut published by the Daily Telegraph of the indignities offered by Japanbse soldiers to Mr Arthur Raymond Weigall, chief engineer of the Manohu Mining Syndicate, Limited, son of Mr A. B. Weigail, headmaster of the Sydney Grammar School, Mr& Weigail (nee Mies Maud Barnes, of "Dyraaba," Casino, New South Wales), and Mr W. W. Taylor assistant to Mr Weigail) in North Korea, during December last. The party was travelling peaceably through uorea, and at a township named Heu-Tcheng, were put' through a category of questions by some Japanese soldiers. After using exceedingly insulting language to the party it was allowed to proceed—for two miles only. Then it was stopped again and insulted again; Mrs Weigail was brutally struck on the ohest by a aoldiier; Mr Weigail was on the verge of being shot; and Mr Taylor just escaped being run through with a bayonet, After being marohed baok to the township, where further insults •and indignities were heaped, upon the unfortunate people they were told to go. Negotiations in regard to the matter have been commenced between British and Japanese Government officials.
