A telegram from Obriatobaron states that Mr,T. E. Taylor, exM.H.R. and Prohibition leader, has re-entered journalism, and is editing a new weekly paper called the "Express," which will be first published-, on Jane 30fcb. jU Nine cash seotioris and four reserves of a quarter-acre each, in the township of Obakune, were sold at auotion Wednesday. Tbe upset price ranged from £25 to £6O, and realised from £3l to £lO2, the latter being given by A. Marsh for,section 7x. A Dunedin telegram states that several local members of Parliament met the Ofcago University Council, on Wednesday, to consider the wants of the University in connection with tbe mining sohool. The present building has become so dilapidated that its use oannot be continued much longer. In view of tbe assistance already rendered to the University by fchepublio, and tbe many' recent claims, members thought that the Government should oe approaobed for the £4,000 required to erect a new school and its continuance, and £750 per annum for maintenance. As showing the good work done, it was pointed out that tbe sohool had provided two out of three Rhodes soholars and three 1851 Exhibition Science soholars. It was decided to call for tendrs for the dental sohool building, the funds for which are almost wholly provided by the dentists of the aolony.
