A BRITISH OFFICER MURDERED.
Eeoeved June 14, 11.45 p.m. LONDON, June 14. The Lagoa correspondent of the Morning Post states that Oswald Crewe Read, Assistant Commissoner, has been murdered at Asiba, in tbe hinterland. Captain Budkin, with two hundred of the Soulhern Nigerian Regiment, hastened thither and arrived at Ogbor by forced marches. i After heavy fighting the enemy retreated.
Tbe troops [behaved with great gallantry. Farther lighting is imminent.
