Received Jane 12, 9.30 p m. LONDON, Jane 12. Colonel K. H. Legge, a member of the Hoqbb of Commons for St. George (Hanover Square), baa resigned owing to ill-healtb. Mr Alfred Lyttelton will contest the seat. Received Jane 12, 9.52 p.m. LONDON, Jane 12. Sir W. R. Anson's amendment compelling all local authorities to take over voluntaiy ail schools was defeated in the House of Commons by 313 votes to 133 votes.
