ANNUAL TRIALS. , The annual sheep-dog trials of the Masterton Collie Olub were».com pleted, yesterday, at Lansdowue, under favourable auspices. Keen interest was ovoked in the trials, which were altogether a great success. Mr J. Miller's Black won Miss E. Mcllale's gold medal, valued at £2 2a, given for the best Dog bolonging to a drover residing in the Masterton electoral district for six mouths nr'or to the date of the Trials and scoring the most points at the Trials. Mr J. Patterson's Tyno won Messrs Walsh and Mowlam'a silver modal for the second best Dog. A special prize of £2 2s for the bestlooking comnotitor at the Trials was won by Mr J. L. Patterson, of Masterton. The prize was awarded by n committee of ladies. The following are the results:—

CLASS 11. Hunt-away (open), belwoon two sets of liana one chain apart, and then to top flag, about 300 yds from starting point. Time allowed, 12miu. Points: Htiut away, 8; stvle, 0; noiso, 0; command, 10. First prize, £l2 mid Mr F. S Cooper's gold modal valued at £2 2s; second, £5; third, £3: fourth, Messrs C Smith's trophy; fifth, Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association's trophy; sixth, Mr G. Townsend's trophy (pair of spurs).

He had a fair style. ■■ Darkie ran a bit wide in turning, and kept too far off his sheep hunting. Tyne went through the first and second flags and headed the sheep near the top flag, and only got the sheep to the blueaums on thetop of the bill when time was up. Bess went through the first flags very rashly, but was not under good command, and missed the second flags, and hunted the sheep away to tbe right. Moss went through the first flags? but missed the second flags, and hunted tbe sheep to the right. Be was r&sb, and not under very good command.

Fleet went through the first flags and then headed the sheep. He missed the second flags, and was very raqb and had no style or command.

CLASS 11. Beading, Driving and Yarding.— Open only to competitors residing within the boundaries of Wairarapa, Masterton and Pahiatua Electoral Districts. Head and bring back 200 yards, drive through ring, drive (75 yards) through one set of hurdles 8 feet apart, drive 75 yards, and yard in a pen of 4 hurdles (one hurdle to be used as a gate and may be used as a win 6 ). Dog and worker to keep behiud sheep and follow them through hurdles. Time allowed, 12 minutes. Points: Beading, 7; bringing back, 7; driving, 8; yarding, 8; command, 10. First prize, £lO and Mr F. S. Cooper's gold medal (£2 2s); second, £o\ third, £2; fourth, Mr J. W. Uochrane's trophy; fifth, Mr F. 3. Dupre's trophy. D. He went through the hurdles at the second attempt. Nigger cast to the right and headed quietly in 54sec. Be ovenan his eheeD while "pulling," and was very wide at turning. Be went through the hurdles at the second attempt and had a very good style at tbe pen. Labra cast to the left and headed quietly in lmin 18sec, She went through both the ring and the fhurdles at the first attempt, but only got the sheep to the yard when time was up.
