BANKRUPTCY.
* —. ESTATE OF BENJAMIN SPEIGHT. The adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Benjamin Speight, bankrupt, late hotelkeeper of Gladstone, was held in the Masterton Courthouse on Saturday morn - ing, before Mr W. B. Chennells, D.O.A. There were four creditors present. Mr C. A. Pownall ap- | peared for bankrupt, and Mr B. J. Dolan appeared for Mr F. M. Ross, of Feilding, to whom bankrupt had sold his hotel. As the meeting had been adjoruned on the previous day to allow of Mr Pownall's opinion being obtained with regard to the contract entered into with Mr Rosa by bankrupt, Mr Pownall stated that he thought the sale of the Gladstone Hotel by bankrupt to Ross was valid, and he advised that the contract be completed. The creditors agreed that there was no claim on the £125, commission on the sale of the hotel owed to Boss by bankrupt. The D.O.A. was instructed to complete the contract between bankrupt and Ross. A resolution was passed'instructing the D.O.A. to dispose of a quantity of loose assets of the bankrupt, With reference to the farm of 240 acres situated in Taranaki, sixteen milws from Inglewood, owned by bankrupt's wife, and on which there is an estimated equity value of £250, the D.O.A. was instructed to dispose or arrange for its disposal to the best interests of the creditors. The aotion of the D.O.A. in employing Mr H. W. Pownall to value bankrupt's stook at a fee of £3 3s was confirmed. The meeting then adjourned sine die.
