A CENTENARIAN.
BANQUET TO MR MATTHEW FOWLDS. Received May 24, 10.35 p.m. LONDON, May 24. Mr Matthew Fowlds, of Kilmarnock, was banqaetted by his family in celebration of his centenary. There were four hundred guests, including Sir Joseph Ward, Messrs Robert McNab, Aitken and George Fowlds, M's.H.R. The King and Mr Seddon, Auokland and Edeu friends, and Auckland single-taxers telegraphed congratulating. Sir Henry Campbell-Bannermau, Lord Onslow and Hon. W. P. Reeves sent apologies for not being present. The oen • tenariau, in a vigorous speeoh, acknowledged an oil painting of himself working at the weaver's loom. Messrs McNab, Aitken and G. Fowlds delivered speeches. Sir Joseph Ward was given a great reception when replying to the toast of "Britons Across the Seas."
