STEAMER WRECKED.
Received May 23,|[8.30 a.m. LONDON, May 22. The steamer Oak burn, which left New York for Sydney, on April 18th, waatotally wrecked off Duikerpoint, Cape Colony. The members of the orew were saved, CARGO FOR NEW ZEALAND. Received May 24, 1.5 a.m. SYDNEY, May 237 The Oakturn had cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. EXCITEMENT IN MELBOURNE. A VALUABLE CARGO. HUAVY INSURANCES. Received May 24, 1.45 a.m. ■*-■ " MELBOURNE, May 23. The loss of the Oakburn caused some exoitement in insurance oirules here. The local agents of the vessel state that she carried a cargo amounting to about 8,000 tons, and valued at £200,000. , Included in the cargo was 1,000 tons of rails for the Victorian Government. Most of the Australasian insurance companies bold lines on the cargo ranging from £5,000 to £20,000.
