THE PERTH SENSATION. PERTH, May 12. In connection with the disappearance of the Rev. T. A. James, Minister at the Albany Methodist Church, and an ex President of the Metbodst Conference, it is stated here that Mr James raised a considerable sum of money on his property and had further money telegraphed to him at Melbourne. MR JAMES' VISIT TO SYDNEY. SYDNEY, May 12. The Rev. T. A. James, though well-known to several Ministers in Sydney, did not visit any. The only definite trace of him is that he called on a seedsman and ordered some seed potatoes to be sent to his son in Western Australia. He was clothed in civilian dress and without the beard ho usually wore. The date on the Suva letter coincides with the arrival of the steamer Maheno there. The names of Hunter or James are not on the passenger list. GIRL WORKERS IN LAUNDRIES. SYDNEY, May 12. A workers 1 representative before the Arbitration Court, in giving evidence, said girls were working in laundries who were only receiving from eight to ten shillings weekly, which was insufficient to keep them in decent food and clothes. The conditions of things was foroing young women into a state of immorality. Unless tbey got sufficient to keep body and soul together under healthy conditions the old conditions of slavery were, witness said, far preferable to the present system. NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION. MELBOURNE, v May 12. Mr Deakin, the Federal Premier, states that be has not yet con sidered whether the Commonwealth as a whole shall be represented at the New Zealand Exhibition.
