Mr Dinnie. Commissioner of Police, does not place much reliance ou the statement made by the prisoner Lee in the Supreme Court at Wellington recently, that he was ' advised and helped to come to New Zealand by a high authority in the Police Department in New South Wales. Mr Dinnie states that a mutual arrangement exists between the New Zealand Police Department and the Police Departments of the Australian States, whereby the movements of well-known are carefully watched and announced, if a New Zealand criminal is about -to bestow his presence on Sydney, for instance, the police authorities there are promptly informed of the fact, so that the new arrival will be assured of the attention bis previous exploits entitle him to, and similar attention is paid to criminals, from the other side.
