THE NATIVE DISTURBANCE.
Reoeived May 3, 8.14 a.m. CAPETOWN, May 8. The militia reserves at Vryheid are mostly Boers. I'hey refused the rifles offered them on the ground that they were obsolete. The rifles are described as second-hand Mar-tini-Henrys, NATIVES RETURNING TO THEIR KRAALS. Received May 9, 11.40 p.m. PIETERMARITZBUKG, May 9. Colonel Mackenzie has reached Nkandhla. Four hundred of Bambaata's followers have crossed the Buffalo River, at Umsiuga, where Kula's people are already armed. The main body, consisting of Ave hundred, and commanded by a headman, named Mteli, and some of Batihes rebels, have crossed the Tugela Kiver and are returning to their own Kraals or seeking, protection among the disaffected natives. Kula and his brothers 1 have been arrested and brought to Helpmakaar.
