—;—» ■■— BOSTOOK AND WOMBWELL'S CIRCUS. ■ The people of Masterton are about Eo be favoured with 'some items of sensational interest in the wonderful saienoe of hypnotism. Attached to Bostock and. Wombwell's Circus, which opens here on Wednesday, are the wonder workers of the United States of America, consistit-g of Professor Bonner and his wonderful subject, Mr S. 0. Williams. On Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, the public are requested to line the streets to witness the first uf a series of hypnotic tests. A committee, consisting of prominent citizens, will attend at that hour at the circus in order to supervise the carrying out uC all arrangements, so that the public may rest assured that the tests are genuine. A number of the committee will drive away in a locally hired drag, and, choosing their own route, will select some store or shop and therein hide any article previously agreed on. They then drive back, following the route originally taken. On tbeh arrival, where in the meantime the other members of the committee have been olosely watching the professor and his subject, Professor Bonner will hypnotise Mr Williams and blindfold him. He is then hoisted to the box seat, and wili in this oondition drive the whole of the committee along the exact routb followed on the first occasion, and trace and discover the article. On Wednesday. and Thursday evenings in the oirous, a further exhibition of hypnotio power will be given. In full view of the audience and public committee. Professor Bonner will hypnotise iris subject, Mr Williams, who will then be placed in a rigid cataleDtio state with his head resting on one trestle and his feet on another. A blook of Oamaru stone will then be lowered on to his unsupported body, and will be broken to splinters by any qualified striker who may volunteer. The stone may be inspected by the audience, and weighs about 3cwt. The public committees in the South Island of New Zealand, and at Wellington, consisted of the Mayor and leadinß Councillors, all of whom have certified to these wonderful and thrilling tests.
