MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

+ , ■ SPEOIAL MEETING. A speoial meeting of the Masterton Hospital Trustees was held yesterday -morning. Mr J. &. Reneli presided, and there were, also present —Messrs M. J. H. Jaokson, W. Harris, J. B. Keith and W Fisher. An apology for absence was reoeived from Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R. The Seoretary submitted a,, statement which showed that the funds h hand for the new Hospital amounted to £7,402 18s lid, and the estimated oost of the building was £8,250. There was still to be added to the funds in hand about £239 without the subsidy as the result of the recent Floral Fete. Only about £2OO was required to be collected to make up the amount for the new Hospital. A letter was reoeived from Mr A. W. Hogg wherein he reported on the interview with the architects for the new building, Messrs Crichton and McKay with reference to the fees charged by them for the plans of the new building. The architects claimed that their fees were levied according to the scale fixed by the profession, and they could make no rebate. If the Trustees deoided how they should prooeed with the work, no difficulty would arise, but a clerk of works, under any oiroumstanoes, would be required, and it would be necessary for the Trustees to deoide whether the supervision of the architects was, also, necessary. The architects pointed out that the work needed careful supervision, but Mr Hogg stated that if the architects' services were dispensed with the Trustees would effect a saving of 4 per oent. on the work. However, Mr Hagg reobmmended that the architects be instructed to complete the plans and specifications for the work as soon as possible, so that tenders may be called for the work. A resolution, embodying Mr Hogg's last suggestion, was adopted. A letter from the Executive Comniittee of the Hospital Floral Fete, asking, the Trustees to pay £3O remuneration, suggested to be paid the joint secretaries of the Floral Fete (Messrs W. M. Easthope and A. Nicole was referred baok to the Floral Fete Committee to deoide.
