AVON DALE JOCKEY' CLUB. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 31. The Avondale Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting was commenced to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance good. The sum put through the totalisator amounted to £3,402 10s. Results:— Maiden Plate Handicap, 6 furlongs—Soultmaid (Towers) 1, Ben 2, Vivandel 3. Also started—Confide, Trephine, Hermes, lutombi. NEWCASTLE CUP. " Received April 1, 4.51 p.m. SYDNEY, April 1. The Newcastle Cup resulted:— Gladsome, lOst 101b, 1; Chaperon, Bst, 2; Chronograph, Bst, 3. The winner was a hot favourite at 6 to 4 on. Gladsome won easily by four lengths. Gladsome's owner, Sol Green, made a lot of money over the race. He bought half the ticket in TatterBall's Number 1 Sweep for £2OO. ROSEfIILL RAILWAY HANDICAP. Received April 1, 4.51 p.m. SYDNEY, April 1. Maniopoto started a warm favourite, at 2 to 1 against, for the Railway Handicap at Rosebill. He got away badly, but, though be finished with a great run, he was beaten cut of a place by a head. The winner turned up in Williamson's Zythos, a 20 to 1 chance.
