MASTERTON GOLF CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING,
The annual meeting of the Masterton Golf Club was held yesterday afternoon. Mr H. G. Williams oooapied the chair, and there were about twelve members present. The annnal report, after congratulating members on tbe healthy - Btate of tbe ulub's affairs, stated, inter alia:—The membership of the club now stands at 114—men 59, ladies 55—an increase of 1G on the previous year. During the season six inter-club matches were played, of which our representatives won four and lost two. The usual programme of events was arranged and played off during the season. The Ladies' Championship was again won by Misa J. Kobieson, Miss M. H. Paytou being runner-up; Mr A. B. Laurence winning the Men's .Championship, with Mr 0. 0. Cox second. Mr Laurence also holds the "Record Challenge Shield," with the good score of 82—the record for the season. The club is grateful to the Ladies' Committee for the able way they carried out the arrangements, and to Mr H. G. Williams for the use of a horse during the season. For this coming season your committee have beeu able to secure tbe services of Mr Divid Hood, of Auckland, ns coach, from Ist May to 21st May, and it is hoped that members will take full advantage of his tuition. Tbe aunual balance-shoot showed the receipts bad been £94 2s lOd (subscriptions £65 2s Gd, stores £5 3s. rent of lockers £1); expenditure £44 8a 6d (upkeep of greens and fences £ls 17s 3d, printing £4 Is, entertaining visiting teams £5 14s Sd, cost of roller £4 ss, interest on debentures £7 55",; leaving a credit balance of £l9 14s 4d. The amount of asseie over liabilities showed an increase of £73 14s 4d. The report and balauce-sheet were adopted as read. Officeis for Ibe ensuing year were elected as follow.—President, Mr H. G. Williams; Vice-Presidents Messrs H. H; Holmes and H. H. Beetnam; Captain. Mr A. B. Lawrence; General Committee, Messrs D. Donald, W.'P. James, V. E. Donald, D. Case!berg, G. C. Summerell, W. D. Croft, and N. D. Bunting; Ground, Se'ection and Handicapping Committee, Messrs ,C. 0. Cox, D. Donald, and A. B. Laurence; Secretary and Treasurer, MrO. C. Cox; Ladies' Couaniittee, .'Mrs James and Misses J. Kobieson ;acd M. Pay ton. It was decided to raise the ladies' ~ subscriptiGnfl to 10a >for playing members and 5a for honorary members. It was decided to open tbe links on Saturday, April7th. On the motion of Mr Galwey* seconded by Mr Bunting, the committee were reoommended to expend a fair proportion of tbe club's funds in carrying out improvements at the links.
