MR DEAKIN'S SPEECH. PRESS COMMENTS. Received Maroh 26, 10.10 a.m. MELBOURNE, Maroh 26. The Argus, commenting on Mr Dentin's speech, says one nctable feature in connection with the speech was the lack of interest in it, as shown by the comparatively small attendance. The Age states that there was very little in the speech that the country wanted to know, and very much that everybody was tired of. DAMAGE AT NEW CALEDONIA. Received Maroh 26, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY. Maroh 26. The storm at New Caledonia last week was the severest experienced for several years. The telegraph lines are down in all directions, and the settlers sustained considerable losses. The wind reached a velocity of ninety miles. A CASE OF MURDER.""* Received March 26, 11.56 p.m. | SYDNEY, Maroh 26. ' A man named Brofcherton shot a man named Finn, at Canbelego, near Cobar. Finn, who was living apart from bis wife, went to Brothe;ton's camp to see his chidren. Brotherton refused to let him see them, and fired at Finn twice. The latter died at the Hospital. His assailant has been arrested.
