TRENTHAM RANGE!, March 8. Lovely weather prevailed for the shooting to-day, but the wind was somewhat puzzlinc, and the shooting was of no great merit. Here and there a eood individual soore would be found, but generally speaking it was not up to the shooting seen here in previous years. In the Otago match, Pellow, Waipawa, got within one of the possible at 600 yards range, Drummond (Uannevirke) did similarly at the 7CO yards range. At the 1000 yards ranee, in the Canterbury Match, there were many bursts and hero Mariett, who was leading for tho belt only got on four of bis shots for 13, and fell away back. Whiting, Purnparanmu, put on the best score, 31, while MoMurray, Palmars-ton North, followed with 28. Winslnde, who rose with 25, shot info tho lead for the belt. Ho challenged his last shot, and got a "bull's-eye." The position of the others are, also, changed. Irvine, Nelson, who cot 27, shot in to second place. During f'o afternoon a couple of voluuteeer matches were fired. In the Snap Match prizes ranged from to 6s Bd, and there were 149 prizetakers; in the Cover Match from 15s to 7s 6d, aud 123 prize-takers. DETAILS OF MATCHES.
