METHODIST CONFERENCE.

RESOLUTIONS RE THE EXHIBITION. DUNEDIN, March 5. Tbe Methodist Conference has directed that sermons on temperance be preached in all its churches on the last Sunday in November. it, also, requested that ministers, and local preachers preach on the question of gambling. A committee on public morals was elected, with the Rev W. Sinclair as secretary and couvenor. The following resolution was passed—" Cha Conference representation of the Methodist Church of New Zealand respectfully requests the authorities responsible for the management of the New Zealand Exhibition to bo opened in Christchurch iu November, 1906, (1) that provision bo made in connection with the opeuing ceremony for the recognition of God; (2) that the Exhibition be closed on each Sabbath eday; (3) that no licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquor on the Exhibition grounds." The next Conference is to meet, in Christchurh iu 1907, the date to be fixed by the President. The thaaks of the Conference were heartily given to the Conference officers, press, and those who so hospitably entertained the ministers and lay members. In the evening there was a young people'a demonstration in the Trinity Church, which was addressed by Sister Olive and the Revs. C. Port&r and H. L. Blamires. The Conference will meet on Tuesday morning to read the journal.
