EKETAHUNA STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report regarding' their sale at Eketahuna, yesterday:—We had a full yardine of sheep of all classes. Competition was keen all throughout, one pen only being passed, wbioh changed bands immediately afterwards, thus making a total clearance. In cattle we had a fair eniry, b'dding for which was very alow, ouly about half of the list being sold. Medium fat ewes made 12s, sound breeding ewes 12s to 12s 9d, medium and inferior lis, 10s Gd, and 3s, down to 5s 6d and 6s for culls. Only medium lambs these making 6s to 7s Id. Two-tooth Lincoln ramp, on account of Mr A. Small, studs sgns, flocks 3gus to 3)«j'gns, steers 57s 6d 2years 50s to 555, 18 months 455, yearlings 355, calves 10s 6d, store cows 40s to 50s, weaner pigs 10s 6cl.

WELLINGTON, February 26. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from th?> High Commissioner London, dated 24th iust: Mutton: Market is quiet, and stocks on hand are light, the average price, to-day, for Canterbury mutton is per lb; for other and North Island mutton 3%dperib; Australian 3d: River Plate 3%d, for light weights. There is only a small supply of heavy weights, Australian lamb being u«ed instead. Tbe lamb market is weak, Australian being in large Bupply. There is an inclination to force soles. It is estimated that there are 300,000 oaroases at present in store here, and 200,000 on tbe way. The average price, to-day, for Now Zealand lamb is per lb, Australian 4d. The beef market is quiet. The stocks of New Zealmd on hand are light, the average pricq, to-day, is, for hindquarters of New Zealand beef per lb, fores 2%d (nominal), jThe butter market is firm for best quality, and supplies will be moderate. Tbe average price for choicest New Zealand butter, today, is 107s per cwt, Danish 115s, Australian 103s, Argentina 107s. The cheese market is firm, and there is a good demand at 62s per owt. The hemp market is steady, but there is less demand. The price of New Zealand hemp, "good, fair Wellington," grade, on spot to-day, per' ton, is £32 10s; April-June shipments, £3l 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm, and there are only light stocks on hand. Heavy seed is scarce. . Buyers have been offering more freely. The average price for bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171bs per bushel, on spot to-day, is 55s per owt. Current Bradford quotations for tops are:—36's, low crossbrede, Is 4%d; 44'e, medium orossbreds. Is 6d; 50's, halfbreds, Is BJ.<d; sG's, quarter-breds, Is merinos, 2s Kauri gum: Ordinary to fair, three - quarter scraped, £6 sa; fair, half soraoed, 85s; brown, fair, half to three-quar-ter scraped, 795; brown, pickings, common to good, 395; bush, fair to good, pale and amber scraped, £B. Fine gum is scarce. The demand has fallen off considerably, and the market is rather quiet.
