ABSINTHE.
BRUSSELS, February 23.
The Belgian Chamber baa adopted a Bill prohibiting the manufacture and sale of absinthe.
(Abainthe is a spirit flavourd with powdered leaves and floworing tops of certain plants, chiefly wormwood. The aromatics are first macerated in alcohol and then distilled, the product being a green-coloured liquor. Adulteration of absinthe is very common, and blue vitrol is often found in it. The spirit is chiefly used in Prance, where it was first introduced through being proscribed as a febrifuge during the Algerian War.)
