PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT'S ORDEAL.
President Roosevelt shook the "bands of 9,052 callers at the New "Year reception at the White House, Washington. Mr Roosevelt especi ally ordered lively masic, and kept the line of bis guests briskly moving to its quick tempo. Three hours and a-half elapsed before he finished this arduous task of hand-shaking.
