CHESS AND DRAUGHTS CLUB.
FORMED IN MASTERTON,
A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Chess aad Draughts Club \vaß held, in the Y.M.O.A. Rooms, last night. Twenty names were handed in for membership, by the dozen that were present. The Chairman stated that the Board of Management had decided to place a room at the disposal of the Club, «nd that it was not intended to restrict membership to members of the Y.M.O.A. 1 On the motion of Mr 0. Winchester it was decided to form a club, to be called the Masterton Cheas and Draughts Club. Mr G. P. Lane was elected Secretary and Treasurer, and a committee consisting of Messrs J. Oandy, P. ILett, W. 0. Perry, J. Logan and D. E. Partoo, was set up to go into matters of detail. it was deoided to apply to the Board of Management for use of the Rooms, on Monday and Wednesday evenings, aud that Wednesday, 28th instant, be the opening night of the Club. n The amount of subscription was left with the Committee to arrange, and the matter of procuring chessmen, etc., was left with Mr Candy and the Secretary. 1
