N.Z. ROMNEY MARSH SHEEPBREEDERS ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. 'The annual meeting of members •of the New Zealand Romney Marsh 'Sheep-breeders' Association was hold in the Masterton A. and P. Association's rooms last evening. Mr G, Wheeler, of Haloombe, ocoupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of members. The annual balance-sheet, which was adopted, stated, inter alia, that although it was only a little over a year sinae the initial step was taken to form the Association ander Its present constitution already the success of the undertaking had warranted the action of the promo .tera of the scheme. There were now seventy-four flocks registered by, the Association, two applications were before the Council, and nine fresh ones had applied for membership. The annual balance sheet showed the receipts to have been £351 2s 9d ; and the expenditure £l6l 13s 7d; leaving oredit balance in tlpe bank of £lB6 9s 2d. The assets were in excess of liabilities by £192 6s 2d. Officers for the ensuing: year were elected as follow:—President, Mr U. Wh&eler, Halcombe; Vioe-Presidejt, Mr J. Holms, Waimahaka, Southland; Treasurer, Mr W. F. Jacob,, Feilding; Secretary, Mr E. J. MackTill, Feildingl The following motion, of which Mr D. P. Buchanan had given notice, was carried:—".ln order to prevent duplication of names in the Flock Book, all flook owners to submit a word (for preference the name of their estate) that may be used as a prefix or affix to the names or numbers of animals they may wish to enter in the Flock Book. Such word, on ap- > proval of the Council, to be registered in the books of the Association, and no other flook owner allowed to use it." Thus names will read, either "Mayfleld Nugeet 9th," or "Nugget 9th of Mayfleld," and numbers either "Mayfleld 44th" or "No. 44 of Mayfleld." The question of judges of Romney Marsh sheep at the various A. and P. shows in the colony was fully discussed, and a list was drawn up to be submitted to the principal A. and P. Societies in the colony for their approval. When approved of, judges for Romney Marsh sheep at the shows can only be drawn from 1 suob list. There was a general discussion regarding the exhibiting of fleeces at the forthcoming International Exhibition in Ohristchuroh, and Anally the Secretary was instructed to ascertain full particulars from the Executive Commissioners of the Exhibition, and then circularise the mem bers of the Association, asking them to endeavour to forward au exhibit. Eleven new members were elected, bringing the present membership up to close on 100. The meeting then adjourned.
