MELBOURNE v. MANAWATU. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., February 16. The Melbourne crioketerfl played Manawatu, here, to day. Tbe weather was fine, and the pitch in good order. Manawatu batted eighteen men and fielded twelve. Each side completed an innings. Manawatu went in first to tbe wickets, and put up 108. H. Hewitt made 20, Goldspring 37, the Rev. Stephenson 14, chiefly apai'iat tbe bowling of Armstrong and Wilkinson. Melbourne made 118—Irwin 31, Aitken 26, Ransford 14. The visitors treated Bartlett very respectfully, and could not score off him. The match will be continued on Monday and Tuesday. Bartlett is an Australian and an ex-Mastertonian, who played for Carterton some years ago when Masterton. bad no senior cricket team,)
f SENIOR OUP. MASTERTON v. CARTERTON. Tbe above match was commeaced on the Park Oval, on Saturday. Masterton, in their first innings, put up the creditable score of 218, and when the stumps were drawn Carterton's five wiokets had coßt them 31 runs. The runs made by Redmond against Carterton, on Saturday, has only been beaten twice by members of tbe Masterton Club, in senior matches. In 1899 O. Perry made 110 runs, aud in 1890 Mathias made 94. MASTERTON B v. GREYTOWN. The above teams met at Greytown, on Saturday. Masterton made 39 runs ill their first innings, and. have lost eight wiokets for 41 runs in the second. Greytown's first innings resulted in 51 runs. T. Hoar performed excellently with the ball, taking six wiokets for two runs. JUNIOR CUP. Y.M.C.A. v. GREYTOWN A. Tbe matoh between the above teams waß played at Carterton, on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Greytown by an innings and 53 runs. The Y. M C.A. bad a weak team, and only batted eight men.
