WOMAN SENT TO GAOL.
A TOWN CLKRK CENSORED. WELLINC3TON, Febiaary 18. Helen Marks, a middle aged woman, was sentenced to one year's imprisonment, by Mr Justice Edwards, o$ a charge of keeping a disorderly h6ase, and attempting to procure three girls for immoral purposes. Addressing the jury, the Judge commented severely on the City Cbuncil granting the prisoner a lodging-houso license, saying that it was a grave broaoh of publio duty, when the Town Clerk bad the police report on the hous« under his nose.
