CHRISTCHURCH SUPREME COURT.
OHRISTCHURCH, February 14. At the Supreme Court, yesterday, in the case against John Ross, charged with keeping a common gaming house, the jury disagreed, and were locked up till nearly midnight. This morning the case was adjourned till next session. The case against Maurice llislop, connected with the Ross case, was also adjourned till next session George Francis Luke Mulqueany was convicted of having stolen a watch from David Brown on the Manuka at Lyttelton, on December 2Uth, and was sentenced to four months' imprisonment, the prisoner having already been in gaol awaiting trial. John Taupoki, a Maori lad, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for indecent assault. Robert Cairns, a lad of 17 years, was acquttied on a charge of having committed incest. John Byrne, convicted of having, on November sth, assaulted Janet Johnston, so as to oanse her actual bodily harm, was sentenced to four months' imprisonment. The pri-. soner had already been imprisoned for three months awaiting trial.
