Mr W. Rose re'ports as follaws:— During the past fortnight I have held the following sales:— January 29th, Woodville.-—1 had a fair yarding of young cattle, and all were sold under the hammer at ruling prices. January 30th, Weber. There was a big yarding of cattle, all being good sorts. The attendance was small, and bidding under the hammer was dull, but after the sale, I practically completed a clearance at the following prices:—-Two and a-balf to 3-yaar-old steers £3 17s 6d to £4, 2-year old steers £3. February Urd, Dannevirke Morse Sale:—A fair yarding of useful sorts, heavy draughts were in tnoßt demand. I quote as follows—Heavy shatters, £3B to £42; medium, £27 10s to £35; light harness horses £lO to £22, bocks from £5 upwards. February stb, Ormondville Stock Sale. —A poor yarding and very little business done. . February Btb, Mntamau, Mr P. Beck's Clearing Sale.—A well-at-tended sale and all stock sold readily under the hammer. The dairy cows averaged about £4 ,ss, weauers 12a, pjgs 335, bull £6, horses £l4 and upwards. February 9tb, Dannevirke StocK Sale.—l had a big yarding of cattle. On account of the bad weather two advertised lines of sheep did not come foward. I quote as follows:—Sheep: 2-tooth wethers sold after the sale at 14s. Cattle: Fat cows £5, cows in proflo £4 2s 6d, 3 to 4-year-old steers £4 6s to £4 15s, empty heifers £3 4s 6d, 12 to 18-months steers £2 Is 6d to £2 7s 6d, 18-months to 2-year-old steers £2 15a to £2 17s 6d, yearlings 25s to 355, weaners 12s to £l, weaner pigs lis to 13s. LONDON MARKET ADVICES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegrams ft>m their London office, d&ted the Bth instant:— Butter: Market is unsettled. The Copenhagen offloial quotation is unchanged. The future is difficult to forecast. The total imports of butter into the, United Kingdom for the week ending 3rd instant amounted to 112,000, as compared with 69,000 owt., for the corresponding period of last year. More demand for unsalted than salted. The market is depressed in consequence of heavy arrivals. Under the oiroumstances o.i.f. buyers show no disposition whatever to operate. Frozen meat: New Zealand mutton and lamb, market dull. Beef, higher by per lb. The advance is due to small receipts of ohilled Argentine. Skins: Merino sheepskins are higher by par to J£d; fine crossbred higher by %d; coarse crossbred higher by to Md.\ Tallow: Since bur last telegram, prices are 6d per owt. lower.
