MASTER BAKERS' ASSOCIATION.
WANGANUI, February 7. The animal Conference of tbe United Master .linkers' Association of New Zealand, was resumed to-day. Tbe subject cf the Arbitration Court award was considered, and the Conference recommended an adoption of the Commttee's report as follows: —(a) That this Committee recommend that the delegates be requested to taKo note of the various good points of the various agreements, and endeavour to place them in all future awards with the men; (b) that wo consider the time is not opportune to endeavour to get a New Zealand award; (c) that it be recommended that, in clause 45, line 10,"the word "Lime" should bo deleled from all future awards, and in substitution add clouso 15, of the South Canterluy award. Clause 15 reads as follows:—"In a bakehouse where the employer or son is employed he shall be deemed to rank as an employee, and shall sponge every alternate Sunday, or holiday, with the men, or pay time and a quarter to the latter, this rule not to apply to a bakehouse where a foreman is employed." In regard to preference to Unidnists, a motion wi»s carried:—"That this Conference use their utmost endoavours to . obtain entire preference to Union masters, and that no Union men shall work for a nonUnioa master." With regard to the price of bread, it was resolved thai the eliding scale approved of at last Conference be confirmed. It was resolved that it be a recommendation from this Conference that all master bakers should see that all their carters are insured under a special guarantee bond.
