FUTILE ATTEMPTS TO SAVE LIFE. VANCOUVER, January 26. Bluejackets from the British sur-veying-vessel Egeria, in surf boats, attempted to save survivors from the riggiug of the Valencia, but the rough sea prevented their success. A hundred and thirty-nine were drowned. FURTHER RESCUES. Received January 26, 9.37 a.p.m. VANCOUVER, January 26. Twenty, more of the Valencia's passengers, who were on a raft, have been rescued.
