A QUESTION.
(To the Editor). Sir,—Will you kindly answer, through your valuable paper, the following question:—lf prohibition were carried in any electorate, do the brewers retain the l right to brew their beer, etc., and supply the private homes, or are their licenses treated the same as those held by the hotel-keeper.—Yours, etc., ENQUIRER. Masterton Jan. 24th, 1906. (So far as we are aware, the carrying of No-license in an electorate in no way affects the right to brew liquor within that district. Brewers, of course, could not sell any liquor in a prohibited district, although they might brew within the same district. We have been informed that, in more than one electorate in the South Island where No-license has been carried, brewers have con • tinued their trade, a large quantity of the liquor brewed being sold without the prohibited area, but consumed within it. It was necessary, of course, to carry the liquor out of the district before the sale could be effected.—Ed. W.A.)
