SECOND DAY'S EVENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 22 Fine weather prevailed for the secoud day's racing. The attendance was estimated at between 10,000 and 12.000. The sum of £24.456 was passed through the machines to-day, I iuoluding £l,lOl on the double (Racing CJub Handicap and Metropolitan Handicap) totalisator, which piiid £l6s.The total for the meeting was £48,185, an increase of £15,583 over the last Cup meeting. Following are the rusults:— January Handicap.— Clanchattan 1, Dulcinea 2, Tikarawa 3. All the acceptors but Tirole went to the post. A pretty race; won by half a length, after a great struggle down the straight. Time, lmin 42 3-ssec. Dividends, £6 10s and £5 18s. Fitzherbert Handicap. Loftus 1, Kurriwaka 2, Carrisima 3. Also started Grand Slam. Won by a length. Time, lmiu 3sec. Dividend, £l. WELLINGTON RACING CLUB HANDICAP. Letherin 1 Lryiat ... ... 2 Ropa 3 Also started—Achilles and MakarofT Achilles led to the turn, where Letherin came with a wet sail, and won easily by a couple of lengths. Time, 2min 87 2-ssec. Dividend, £7 ss. Metropolitan Handicap.—Stronghold 1, Chivalry 2. Jolly Friar 3. All started but Ballarat and Gawain. Chivalry led until near the post, when Stronghold came with a late run, and won by a necu. Time, ltnin 14 2-ssec. Dividends," £4 17s and £1 15s. Poneke Hack Handicap. Lady Wayward 1, Ana 2, Czarevua .3. Scratched— Declination and Uold Lead. A good race; won by a length. Time, lmin 29 l-sseo. Dividends, £2 17s and £1 Bs. Mungaroa Hack Hurdles.—Wind 1, South Star 2, Waitarere 3. All started. A splendid finish between the placed horses, half a length separating each. Time, 2min 50 4-sseo. Dividend, £3 10s. Wellington Stakes.—Cunieform 1, Moscow 2, Clanchattan 3. Also started—lvanoff, oweet Helen, De Witte and Strathflllian. Cunieform took charge entering the straight and won by a bare length; a couple uf lengths ftetween the second and third horses. Time, lmin 2 35seo. Dividend, £1 9s and £1 Bs. Pencarrow Hack Handoap.—Declination 1, The Seer 2, Czarevna 3. Scratched Dulcinea. Won very easily by a length and a quarter. Time, lmin 16 4 ssec. Dividends, £3 17a and £1 15s. FOXTON RACES. The sura of £9044 passed through the totalisator, being an increase over the corresponding day last year of £1276.
