MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Hospital Trustees was held yesterday morning. There were present—Messrs A. W. Hogg (chair), J. B. Keith, W. Harris, W. Fisher, J, C. Cooper, M. J. H. Jackson, and J. A. Eenall. The Treasurer reported as follows:—Credit balance at last meeting, £l4O 148 4d; receipts for the month, £95 6s 6d; disbursements, £132 17s 6d; credit balance at date, £lO7 3s sd; reduced to £lO3 3a id by outstanding accounts. The Matron reported that there were nine patients in the hospital at last meeting, eleven admitted since, ten discharged, one died, leaving nine at present in the instituton. Accounts amounting to £26 19s 5d were passed for payment. Mr Ewington was appointed visiting member for the month. The plan for the new hospital again came up for consideration. The architects, M«ssrs Crlohton and Maokay, estimated that No 1. design sketched by Dr A. Hosking would cost £5600. In the plan there were no sun-rooms, which would cost about £l5O, while another design altered aa suggested by Dr A. Hosking would cost £5700. A later design still was received embodying the latest suggestions by Dr Hay. This contained all the latest improvements, and was estimated to cost £7OOO. If the bot-water heating system were introduced, as suggested, the cost would be £350 over and above the cost of ooen fire-places. No doubt this would prove very economical in the working expenses, and it was proposed to have no unnecessary ornamentations. It was the general opinion that available funds would not allow of the cost of the latest design, although it met with approval. After a short discussion the meeting expressed approval of the last plan submitted, and before adopting it a Committee of Ways and Means, consisting of the Chairman, Messrs Keith, Cooper, Renall and .Ewington was appointed to report on the financial position.
