Ir the young calf isto grow strong and healthy after separation from the. mother, it is essential that something be given which will replace th'o»e important elements of its maternal food which are not to be found in separated milk. Unless thise elements are supplied proper growth and development, combined with effective disease-resist-ing powers cannot be obtained. There are two essentials:— I. The food must be given in a form that will be easily digested by the youngest calf. t. It must be sufficiently cheap in price to enable the farmer to make a profit on the cream he keeps back.
